Ranking 'Chicken Shop Dates' by How Much I Wish I Were the Fried Chicken

by Madeline Kahl

Fellow Bliztians, Have you ever wanted to date a celebrity? Or have you had the TikTok sound ‘My money don't jiggle jiggle, it folds’, stuck in your head perpetually? Then Chicken Shop Date is the show for you. Amelia invites you to witness her absurd humour to provide a glimpse into the parasocial world of celebrity dating. Today, I'm bravely venturing into the world of chicken, love, and awkward encounters to meticulously rank the top 10 Chicken Shop Dates based on how much I wish I were the fried chicken so I could witness them in real time.

I am thrilled that Lando Norris was on this show because I want to see my other fave Formula One drivers in the grease seat. This interview would be higher, except I have seen other McLaren media and know that Lando is never this shy. He was so babygirl in this, and the only other time I've seen him this babygirl is with Carlos Sainz (Carlos come home, we miss you at McLaren) However, Lando is usually quite the opposite and I’m disappointed that we didn’t get to see his true Scorpio nature. The social media banter between him and Amelia could easily elevate this date on a ranking of chicken shop second dates. While I’m not saying that Amelia was the reason he won his first race, I'm also not not saying that. It's undeniably cute, but alas he gets 10th place (points finish).

Lewis Capaldi is one of the funniest and most iconic celebrities I've ever seen. Amelia’s stone-cold humour and Lewis’ happy-go-lucky nature dissolve any awkwardness within their date. There are absolutely no boundaries between these two, and after their talk about IBS, I’m sure these two left the shop as best friends. This date would’ve been ranked higher if I wasn’t so obsessed with Niall Horan and Lewis Capaldi’s (b)romance. Link for their Glamour Friendship Test: here! (Check it out if you haven't already it will change your life!)

The tension here is so crazy because these two dated outside of the show in 2022. Their relationship was heavily documented online with date vlogs and certified hard launches. When I watch this date I feel like I’m interrupting something, especially after Amelia’s iconic first date question “Have you ever had a carrot?” Amelia has these rappers and UK roadmen wrapped around her finger and I love watching every single second of it. Would be ranked higher if I wasn’t still mourning their break up, but sometimes the tea is too good.

Jennifer Lawrence is so naturally funny that the combination of these two was perfection. The date was hilarious and they just naturally bounced off of each other. The most out-of-pocket moment would have to be when Jennifer forgot Amelia’s name and accidentally called her Pheobe, we’ve all been there before. It's also hysterical that JLaw went on a date with someone now dead, and opened the show with that fun fact. I honestly just wanted to crash this one for the vibes.

Everyone’s Irish husband graced the Chicken Shop tables. As geographical neighbours, their humour matches so unbelievably well that I was smiling and twiddling my hair the whole time. Amelia trying to drink a guineas is hysterical and Paul naturally has a calm and appealing aura. My favourite, most relatable quote would have to be "Being sad and sexy isn't a burden, it's a privilege." - Paul Mescal, 2024. It is my new Instagram bio (I’m so serious). Paul is just so romantic, that not only has Amelia left the date in love with him but I have as well. Paul come home the kids miss you!!

This episode is one of the most philosophical to date, which is completely on-brand for Pheobe. These two really dove deep for a first date.

A: Do you still want to kill your Dad?

P: … No?

As they explore topics from heartbreak to herpes to being buried alive. Pheobe’s openness to every single question counteracted Amelia’s sharp quips. Also hysterical that Amelia has dated both Pheobe and Paul considering they were engaged late last year.

A battle of the Brits between these three. It’s less a date between the two pairs but rather Amelia doing couples therapy. The jump between Filly saying Chunkz makes him laugh the most and Chunks saying he’s friends with him for charity gets me every time. Amelia's culture shock when Chunkz has to explain what a 'bunda' is, mirrors my own experiences talking to my 15-year-old brother who speaks fluent Eshay

Keke Palmer is quite possibly the most underrated celebrity in Hollywood right now. She is so talented and funny and I'm thrilled to see those qualities shine through on this date. She has such enthusiasm for every random question Amelia asks. She is also very relatable because I too, would like to be a rock.

“Even if somebody steps on them they win because it hurts that person.”

And when she rightly guessed that Amelia was an Aquarius because she was awkward, Love for Keke!!!!

You guys don’t understand, I think about this one at least three times a week. The thing about this date is that it starts as a joke. (Note Amelia telling him he should NOT start a podcast). But slowly and surely it leads into a real date as Matty tries to kiss her. You can see Matty Healy fall in love with Amelia throughout the episode. Amelia, however, gives him a run for his money with her quippy one-liners and blasè attitude. Also, they invented Barbenheimer with these pink and black outfits. My favourite line from this episode would have to be:

A - What's your least attractive trait?

M - Probably my personality

Taylor, I understand TTPD after watching this date but the shift from Joe to this to Travis is the craziest thing.

Now Blitzians, this episode would be my favourite episode ever created. However, it has yet to be made. They have met twice on the GQ and Oscars red carpets, but the chemistry is insaneeeee. So I’m giving this soon-to-be episode an honorary award. LIKE TELL ME THIS ISN'T THE LOOK OF A MAN IN LOVE.

Not only is there intense chemistry between the two but the mix of ‘hopelessly in love’ and ‘not at all interested’ is a hysterical dynamic to witness. My favourite quote of the entire show would have to be the conversation about Street Libraries leading to Amelia's best one-liner “I didn’t know you could read”. Me too, girl. Me, too.

All in all, Chicken Shop Date has evolved from a social experiment to a cultural phenomenon. It's like watching your favourite rom-com but with more chicken grease and less Ashton Kutcher. A win for me and a win for the people.
