The SRC Environment Collective is a group of student activists which fights for climate justice, and against fossil fuel corporations and the government!
We collaborate with other groups on and off campus to take direct action and mobilize for large scale climate action. We also promote education around the climate crisis in the UNSW community. Furthermore, we recognize that the climate crisis is caused by the demands of neoliberal capitalism and colonial land management. That’s why we also stand in solidarity with the struggle for First Nations sovereignty and worker rights, including the Black Lives Matter and Stop Indigenous Deaths in Custody movements. So, if you are interested in getting involved in grassroots activism, this is the group for you!
We’re a non-hierarchical space, welcoming and valuing new voices. We’re also an active group: our Term 1 weekly meetings, where we facilitate political discussions and organize upcoming events, are on Wednesdays at 2pm. Our fortnightly reading group and social event is on Tuesday at 4 pm on even weeks.
Whether you’d like to help organize and build for a nationwide climate strike, contribute your fieldwork skills as a citizen scientist on the frontlines of gas extraction in NSW, or turn up to a relaxed banner paint, we’d love to see you there!
