Welcome to the UNSW Outdoors Club!
We are a social sports club that does a wide range of outdoor activities, including climbing (indoor, outdoor, bouldering and ropes), canyoning, kayaking, cycling, mountaineering, hiking, backcountry and cross-country skiing, rogaining, caving and anything else you can dream up. Everyone is welcome to join, whether or not you are a UNSW student. We are incredibly community based, creating a great way to find like-minded people and learn new skills.
There are many perks associated with joining ‘Outdoors’ club, for example; free gear hire for organised trips and cheap gear hire for personal ones. We have everything from kayaks to climbing gear. We also have discounts at many outdoor stores and gyms, especially climbing anchors (%15 off), St Peters climbing gym (cheap entry on Monday and Friday) and the Ledge climbing gym ($5 on a Thursday).
Training times and locations
We have social climbing each Thursday at the Ledge climbing centre from 5:30ish till 8:30pm and finish with pizza and beer at the pub. Each weekend during the term we run 2 trips outside to do the activities we love. These trips run from beginner level to advanced. Twice a year we have BOREE LOG--a large camp out that runs many trips from the same campsite and involves lots of shenanigans and adventures.
Costs
Student membership is $40 per 6 months or $60 for a year (Non-students is $50 and $70 respectively)
