Just because high school taught you how to drop an egg out of a three-storey building without it smashing, doesn't mean you know how to cook that egg! Moving out of home is often the first time we have to start cooking for ourselves, and it's important to make sure we're still getting all the nutrients we need.
Healthy Eating Tips
- Eat fruit as part of at least 2 meals or snacks a day
- Snack on fruit and vegetables instead of cakes and biscuits
- Make half your plate vegetables for at least 2 meals a day
- Include meat or meat alternative in at least 1 meal a day
- Include dairy or calcium rich foods in at least 2 meals
- Include breads or grains in 2 meals a day
- Try to drink at least 2 litres of water a day
Money Saving Tips
- Be prepared and bring your food from home
- Cook at home and store food
- Plan your meals and buy only what’s on your shopping list
- Choose healthy whole food alternatives
- Choose fresh produce that is in season
