About the Exhibition:
I am suffering, overwhelmed and yet powerless to discuss issues related to my identity.
I am pressured to conform to 'something'. To endure and to learn to coexist with it.
Bleached toys, paintings and dresses adorn the exhibition, stripped of their origin.
The titular work "The Paved Walking Trail" is an interactive installation constructed out of stark-white plaster. Posing questions about selfhood, belonging and the fragility of life, the work addresses my experiences of alienation and dislocation as a colonized person.
Visitors are encouraged to interact with the exhibition by walking on the trail.
To me, walking is an attempt to resist the unapproachable freedom of expression.
