SEN CON 2024

Last week, Arc staff attended the Student Experience Network Conference for 2024. 

It is in the premier industry event for student organisation professionals in Australia, and features the SEN Awards for 2024. Arc was shortlisted for 4 prestigious SEN awards representing the best of the best in Australia and New Zealand:  

  • Best Food & Beverage Initiative – Homeground Kiosk
  • Best Sport & Recreation Initiative – Global Sport
  • Best Volunteering Initiative – Food Hub Expansion
  • Best Newcomer – James Wilson (Clubs Manager)

Global Sport was awarded Distinction honours recognising its exceptional contribution to enriching the lives of UNSW international students in the past 12 months. Sport Manager Matt Corso presented highlights from this program to colleagues that demonstrated the immense potential of collaborative funding approaches to activity delivery in for students from a range of backgrounds.

Marketing & Communications Trends

Alex Scudder, Communications Manager at Arc is the Convenor of the Marketing & Communications Professional Network. His group of around 50 delegates made developed industry best practices around security and privacy, whilst also articulating emerging campaign trends towards multi-channel collaboration.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access (IDEA) Ideas

Mitchell McBurnie, General Manager (Marketing, Experience & Strategy) presented the Arc IDEA Roadmap alongside colleagues from RMIT who presented their IDEA Framework. The two alternative approaches to campus practices highlights the different opportunities for student-facing staff to craft experiences that maximise student participation. There was rich discussion about more intentional design for neurodiverse students and an inclusive events checklist will be shared with delegates following the SEN CON.

Commercial Opportunities

Nathan Shipp, Director of Sales presented alongside Bar Manager Henry Gonzalez on the opening and first year of operations for Homeground Kiosk. They shared key learnings on top-of-funnel brand awareness activities, inter-department teamwork to launch a new venue and efficiency improvements in daily food operations that have make the venue a rip-roaring success.
