The award recognises volunteers who have made a significant contribution to Arc’s volunteer programs, and who went above and beyond to service students and their community.

Who Should be Nominated?

Any current UNSW student who is an Ordinary Member of Arc and has made a significant contribution to the success of one or more of Arc’s volunteer programs over the previous 12 month period. 

The student would also have demonstrated the following within the program they were involved in:

  • Developed communication and confidence through their participation.
  • Shown initiative in taking a different approach to pre-existing tasks, or creating an original project.
  • Exceeded expectations through their contribution.

Nominations may be accepted from:

  • Arc Student Development program participants (including volunteers, program coordinators).
  • Arc staff.
Who is this Ben guy?

Who is this Ben guy?

Ben Rudzyn was a talented student at UNSW who was a great representation of the volunteering spirit during his time at the university. Aside from his academic studies of a Bachelor of Computer Engineering and Masters in Biomedical Engineering, as well as achieving the 2006 University Medallist for Computer Engineering, Ben threw himself into various ways of volunteering, including O Week, Clubs, Yellow Shirts etc. Ben was always helpful and engaging, which was shown through his continuing service and willingness and eagerness to make an impact and provide support to different programs.

Tragically, at the early age of 26, a car accident took away Ben’s life, leaving great loss and grief for all whose lives were touched by Ben. The Ben Rudzyn Award was set as a way in which the Arc community can recognise volunteers who have contributed and engaged themselves in various student and professional development programs, displaying a remarkable sense of the service spirit.

The following Ben Rudzyn Award recipients are recognised for their significant contribution to a number of Arc's development programs - well done to all!
