What is Arc Board?

Level up your leadership by nominating for Arc Board. If successful, you will discuss the 'big picture' items that impact student life. You'll learn about setting goals, reviewing deliverables, developing budgets, governance and steering the future of student life at UNSW.

What are the time commitments?

  • This ebbs and flows depending on the time of year and current Board 'issues' for consideration.
  • During the quarterly "meeting season" ~2-3 hours per week for reading board papers and pre-meeting preparation
  • Minimum of 8 Board-related meetings per year
  • Meetings average ~1-1.5 hours each (and are held at 6pm on a weekday, on campus or online)

2024 Arc @ UNSW Limited - Board Election Notice

Nominations OPEN on Monday 26 February 2024.

This notice should be read in conjunction with the Arc Constitution and Regulations.

Positions to be elected

An election will be held for four (4) Student Director positions on the Arc @ UNSW Limited (Arc) Board.

  • Two (2) positions must be filled by women and/or gender diverse students.
  • The remaining two (2) positions are unrestricted.

The term of office will be two (2) years commencing June 2024.

Students elected as Directors on the Arc Board and Office Bearers on Arc’s Student Councils are authorised to represent UNSW students on matters relating to the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).

Nominations

Nominations open at 9am on Monday, 26 February 2024 and close at 11.59pm on Monday, 11 March 2024 (the electoral roll will close at the same time). Late nominations will not be accepted.

Nomination forms will be made available online here.

Forms must not be submitted until nominations are open. Nominations must be submitted prior to the close of nominations to be valid. They may be lodged electronically, using the above link. If a paper nomination form is required for accessibility reasons or otherwise, please contact the Returning Officer on returning.officer@arc.unsw.edu.au

If less than the required number of nominations are received, nominations will be re-opened on Monday 25th March 2024 for 1 week.

Qualifications

Candidates and voters must be current UNSW students and Members of Arc at the close of nominations.

Any person who holds an elected position on a student council, wishing to nominate for a student director position, must resign from their student council position prior to the close of nominations, with the exception of the Inter-Residence Council per section 10.8b) in the Arc Regulations.

UNSW Global students are associate members of Arc and not eligible to nominate, vote or campaign in Arc Elections

Candidates must consent to Arc checking their eligibility in accordance with the Arc Regulations.

Candidate Statements

Candidates should submit the following by the close of nominations:

  • Candidate Statement of not more than 150 words – information in support of your candidature.
  • A recent photograph (jpeg format).

Voting

If more than the required number of candidates are nominated, an election will be held. Online voting will commence from 9am, Monday 15 April to 11:59pm, Thursday 18 April 2024. The method of voting will be optional preferential.

  • Board Elections and Campaigning Information Session: Thursday 29 February 2024, 1:00pm - 2:00pm, Arc Training Rooms & Zoom

Elected candidates will be expected to attend the following:

  • Board Induction: Tuesday 2 May 2024 12:00pm - 2:00pm
  • Board Strategy Days (offsite): Thursday 9 May - Saturday 11 May 2024
  • Board Meeting for Chair Elections: Tuesday 25 June 2024 6:00pm
  • Arc Annual General Meeting: Tuesday 28 May 2024 5:00pm – 6:00pm
