Sydney Swans: My favorite Arc Goes To... Experience

As an international student at UNSW, joining the "Arc Goes To..." trips has been an incredible way to explore Sydney and make new friends. My favorite experience so far was attending a Sydney Swans game. It was a perfect blend of sports excitement, cultural immersion, and social bonding -- and also, my first-ever Australian Football Match!

The day started with a meetup at the Uni, where we greeted so many students, all in red! For a lot of us, it was the first AusFootball game and turns out, everyone had read the rules and watched a few games to keep up with the vibe! Upon arrival, the sight of the grand stadium and the sea of red and white Swans supporters was breathtaking.

We all reached early to get our supporter merch, face paint and so many photos!

The seats ensured we had a great view of the action and the energy in the stadium was contagious. The crowd’s chants, the fast-paced game, and the camaraderie among fans made the experience unforgettable.

One of the highlights was learning the rules of the game from a passionate Swans supporter sitting next to me. His explanation was much more entertaining than the live commentary, which made the game even more enjoyable.

A tip for future attendees: wear red and white because you MUST be a part of the community
